Andean Community Educational Children's Book

Diese Kampagne wird von mir unterstützt. Das Projekt erhielt meine Unterstützung im Februar im Zuge meiner monatlichen Spendenaktion dieses Jahr. Ob ich das jetzt steuerlich absetzen kann oder nicht, weil es etwas mit Neuweltkameliden zu tun hat, wird mein Steuerberater mir zu gegebener Zeit mitteilen. Aber auch wenn nicht: ich finde dies gut und nützlich. Falls jemand sich auch ein wenig für Lamas und Kinder und Bildung in Peru engagieren möchte: hier geht es schnell und einfach und jede Spende zählt! Ich hoffe, es finden sich noch ein paar Unterstützer.

Und bin selbst ein wenig auf das Buch gespannt, wenn ich es dann erhalte. Hoch lebe das Lama!

The Campaign

We are raising $7,500 to produce a 32 page illustrated story in Spanish, native Quechua, and English along with important educational reference pages that reinforces the importance of the llama for our culture and ecosystem.
The first 1,000 books will be given freely to local schools and to more than 700 families of High Andean communities.

The Impact

The llama, a distinctively Peruvian unique pack animal, is capable of preserving High Andean ecosystems and precious sources of water while providing a source of revenue for the communities living there.
Llama Pack Project has been working to reintroduce the llama as a viable pack animal so that these families, currently living in poverty, may participate in the burgeoning tourist industry that is passing them by.

This story will plant the seed of pride and encourage children of these families to continue the tradition of becoming breeders of llamas while becoming active caretakers of their environment.
